For six generations, Massimo Benevelli’s family has farmed the steep hillsides in southeastern Barolo. Massimo, now forty-one, has worked among its vines since he was fourteen, and he knows exactly how to translate this distinctive terroir, which produces wines with the structure and concentration that epitomize great Barolo from Monforte. None of the soul has been buffed out, but notes of black cherries, forest floor, and blood orange emerge even more polished than usual. Truly phenomenal.
A deep maroon core with a ruby rim, the 2021 Eight Years in the Desert opens with aromas of wild blackberry, pepper, oatmeal raisin cookie, Sequoia forest floor, bay leaf and spices. The entry is broad and opulent with a mid-palate of brambly raspberry, black cherry, ripe blueberry and a hint of cacao. The wine has superb length through the finish with ripe tannins and a close of sweet oak.
On the nose, aromas of almond and powdered cocoa develop into white fruit with hints of dried flowers. Classic toasted notes give a rounded finish and denote a fully realized maturity. The palate has a full taste that lingers with elegance on a sappy, spicy note (Dry, White Fruit, Floral, Light-bodied)
Luminous straw-yellow. Lemon, minerals, lime and pomaceous orchard fruit, and actually not much of the spice typically associated with granite soils. Long and lively in the mouth, and boasting noteworthy clarity and cut thanks to juicy acidity that channels the flavor molecules directly onto the taste buds.
After a three year break, the Glendronach Grandeur is back! Next came transit over ocean waters, a practice now both common and efficient for fruits and vegetables. The chilled grapes arrived at Caymus, as if just harvested.

Ruby red of great brilliance with a slight shimmer of pomegranate on the surface. First impression in the nose: rich in fruity notes of Amarena cherries, sour cherries and black currants, followed by elegant herbal nuances and fried pepper as well as coffee, vanilla bean and pink pepper.

This ten-year-old Bottled in Bond bourbon was aged in Warehouse C, built by Col. Taylor in 1885, and the barrel warehouse he was most proud of – the final piece in his “model distillery.” Like some of the previous releases, this one-time-only bottling of E.H. Taylor, Jr Warehouse C Bourbon is very limited. The ideal aging locations for these barrels led to a wonderful flavor combination, with a nose of cherry cobbler with rum sauce and a hint of oak; a palate of cherry cola, vanilla bean and toasted oak; and a finish that is long and lingering with a hint of spearmint, coffee, raisin bread and anise.
