The name Colline aux Fossiles may seem fanciful, but there are actually old, weathered fossils mixed in this site’s gravelly soils. The Colline Aux Fossiles Chardonnay is picked when the flavors are rich and ripe but when there is still plenty of natural acidity remaining in the grapes.
Bruna's vineyards were planted in 1970 by Francesca's father, Riccardo Bruna. It is a tiny 7.5 hectare estate consisting of 5-6 vineyard plots, all planted on terraced vineyards carved out of the Ligurian mountainside. This tank aged wine is all elegance, freshness and minerality. Intensely scented with fine floral and citric notes alongside aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub. From the producer: Our nod to Italy’s famed Prosecco is a crowd pleaser every year. Bollicine (tiny bubbles) is ripe with refreshing zest of tangerine and citrus with a touch of grapefruit on the nose and a lingering zing of sweet blood oranges on the finish. Pair this wine with fresh berries zabaglione, soft mixed greens with citrus vinaigrette and orange supremes, or simply on its own as an aperitif.
