The Mae Estate vineyard is located above Highway 246, the northern corridor of the Sta. Rita Hills. Just fifteen miles from the Pacific Ocean, Mae is host to ocean winds and fog and comprised of marine sedimentary soils.
Biokult Zweigelt meets Pinot Noir is filled with juicy, ripe dark red fruit w/ a hint of cinnamon. The palate is fresh yet plush with fleshy, luscious cherry fruit. There is freshness and drive in this little fruit bomb, which seems made for the picnic basket. Earthy crushed raspberry and earthy aromas follow through on a soft, satiny entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-body with a delicate touch of spice.
Nysa Vineyard Pinot come from 31-year-old, own rooted vines planted in deep Jory soil at 650 feet elevation at a due eastern aspect. The farming is organic and sparing as the vines have achieved a lovely balance emphasizing the distinctive character of the site.
The Benedict pinot is named in honor of Edward Ronan “Ned” Benedict and pays homage to his love of burgundy. The wine showcases the complexity this region produces with balance, purity and persistent flavors of dark red fruits and earthy undertones of beetroot and wet earth. The silky texture is balanced by bright acidity and fine grained tannins.
Over the years, we have been fortunate to work with many great vineyards that span a diverse and varied view into a region that many would call the heartland of California Pinot Noir. Our goal is to create a wine that shows the essence of this iconic appellation.
A vague fruitiness and a brown-sugary sweetness give this wine a soft, candied profile.
Structured and fruity, enriched with pleasant hints of vanilla thanks to the aging partly in barriques.
The wine is characterized with ruby color with violet nuances, rich aroma of ripe forest fruits and cherry.

The Pinot noir was harvested coldand allowed to push a cap before getting one homogenizing pumpover as primary fermentation began. Ina year that was hot and drythere was a threat of heaviness, sothe wine saw minimal cap management, gentle press downs or pumpovers as the fermentation temperature peaked,and was pressed when dry.
