La Soufrandiere Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Quarts 2006
The almost magic position of the South-East facing 40 to 68 year-old vines of Chardonnay here, plus the living clay and limestone soil (Bajocian with a lot of siliceous crystals) give birth to wines for the long term. A great Burgundy wine : a citrussy mineral nose and balance, complexity and richness in the mouth.
Ever since they took over Domaine La Soufrandiere in 2000, ever since we created their small scale merchant business called BRET BROTHERS in 2001 (high quality white wines from the Maconnais region of Burgundy), this is what has been their credo and a source of vibration and passion: the diversity and richness of the terroirs of Burgundy (locally called Climats) and primarily those in the Maconnais, around one grape variety, Chardonnay.
