Oban 10yr The Celestial Blaze Scotch 2022

Diageo’s nod to the rare autumn nights where the Aurora Borealis may be seen shimmering in the night sky above Oban. The tale of The Celestial Blaze explains how a vivid light grew against the ink-black sky above Oban, driven by a celestial creature.

The spritely being painted the sky with violet brilliance, an ethereal light that descended upon the distillery, mirroring the vibrance and energy that the distillery gave to the quiet town of Oban when it was built in 1794.

The initial maturation of refill American oak casks was following by a second maturation in Amontillado sherry casks. The light waft of Oban smoke is present on the nose, alongside notes of pecans and almonds. The palate offers a wonderful note of peach iced tea and the nutty characters promised by the nose. Bottled at a cask strength of 57.1% ABV.
