Paul Lato Atticus John Sebastiano Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015
There is serious weight to this powerful wine, yet it remains distinctly balanced with a ripe red fruit component that is grounded and structured by muscular tannins. As evinced by its popularity in my portfolio, the pleasures of this wine are immediate, but there is much to admire behind the scenes.
John Sebastiano is a newer vineyard on the eastern side of Sta. Rita Hills with a variety of microclimates. The relatively windy location limits yields resulting in concentrated flavors. I use clones 115 and Swan to produce Pinot Noir of great depth and character. Voluptuous, dark and extracted wines of substantial weight and complexity. Besides its great location and topography is the wonderful partnership between the owners, Sebastiano Sterpa and John Wagner, and vineyard manager Ruben Solzono.
