Salbide 2012
Salbide is a local name meaning "Horses' Path." It refers to the ancient routes leading from the vineyards across the nearby Sierra de Cantabria mountain range. The same mountains protect the very old vineyards from the strong northerly winds and allow the juicy-red tempranillo grapes to ripen perfectly. Notes of ripe blackberries and fruity character of a young tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa. Elegant with a long afterstate that brings back floral and fruity memories.
100% Tempranillo. Elaborated and bottled by Bodegas Izadi, the main winery from the Grupo Artevino, who also owns three other wineries. Founded in 1987 by the Anton family after years of running vineyards in Villabuena de Alaba, and located deep in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, Izadi aims to produce wines that expresses the character of the local varieties. Their wines are produced out of over 100 plots of old vineyards, where the dryness and the water stress directly influence the flavor of the grapes.
