Sanguis Gravity 2009
Intense and complex, with rich, vibrant blackberry, crushed rock, fresh earth, mineral, road tar, tobacco and sage notes, ending with tight tannins that give the flavors traction. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier and Roussanne . . ." (J.L., Wine Spectator 91).
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Viognier. Sanguis Wines is located in a converted warehouse, in the heart of Santa Barbara's industrial zone. Their wines are made from the grapes grown between the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria Valleys—this juxtaposition is representative of the style of wine that is Sanguis. The fact that everything has an opposite holds an inexplicable but understandable attraction for all of us. Too much wine these days seems to strive toward a singular ideal at the sacrifice of variety and downright opposite examples of beauty.
