Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Bold aromas rise out of the glass, recalling blackberries and black cherry cola supported by hints of spicy cloves. A rich texture on the palate supported by supple tannins make this wine a perfect combination of finesse and power. Fine-grained tannins on the finish give this Cabernet Sauvignon a dryness that nicely complements its broad mouthfeel and lush flavors.
94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec. Smith & Hook Winery is one of several brands owned by Hahn Estates. In the mid-1970's, on two neighboring ranches-turned-vineyards in Monterey County, Nicolaus ("Nicky") Hahn and his wife Gaby first established Hahn Winery and Smith & Hook Winery. The Smith Ranch had been a horse ranch, while the Hook Ranch had raised cattle for generations; their prime location provided a perfect setting for growing premium varietal fruit. Today, Smith & Hook continues to produce its signature varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. The 'ranch brand' emblazoned directly onto the bottles reflects the heritage of Smith & Hook Winery and the Hahn Winery. Handcrafted by Winemaker Paul Clifton, the wine echoes the pioneering spirit of the Hahn Family and their commitment to winegrowing in Monterey. This big Cabernet has bold, dark fruit flavors and a full-bodied mouthfeel.
