The Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
The Federalist Cabernet is an ode to Benjamin Franklin, whose campaign for colonial unity helped shape the Federalist Party. Considered the First American, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It has aromas of blue/black fruits (blackberries, blueberries) and cinnamon spice, a good density, firm tannin structure, and a long, smooth finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Syrah, and Sangiovese. Cellared and bottled by 2Sons Winery (AKA "Alderbrook Winery"), a Terlato Family winery that has produced quality wine since 1981. It is located where the Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys meet in Sonoma County. Three friends, John Grace, Mark Rafanelli, and Philip Staley had joined forces to purchase land where the Alderbrook estate now sits. In 2001, the winery was purchased by the Terlato family with the sole focus of producing extraordinary wines from three of the most esteemed counties in California.
