The generic Santenay is made from old vines – 50 years of average age – is a good start. It’s quite forward – 70% whole cluster – with a lovely organic fruit spiced with cinnamon and allspice. On the palate rich and velvet with a lavish feel for a wine at this level.
2019 Apothic Merlot reveals depths of black cherry, boysenberry and wild blueberries with subtle hints of vanilla and coconut. To add dimension to the wine, we added a touch of a unique grape called Teroldego, which marries well with the Merlot to create plush tannins and a long, lasting finish.
A unique combination of Upper Galilee terroir, with select vineyards rich with history that can be traced back for centuries. Meticulous, selective harvesting, sorting and fermentation process of a unique blend of 3 varietals originating historically from Spain, produced a premium, Mediterranean style wine, with an emphasis on aromatic spice, potency and complexity of the flavors typical of these varietals.
This classic Northern Rhône inspired wine opens with floral aromatics reminiscent of lavender, violets, cassis and lead pencil. On the palate, it presents focused dark stone fruit, light game and black and white pepper flavors and brisk balancing acidity.
The nose is fruity and offers a small intensity and a certain concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry and cassis associated with discreet hints of spices and a fine touch of blueberry. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a nice freshness, tension, precision and a silky matter. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry cream, plum and a touch of blueberry combined with a hint of chocolate as well as a fine hint of mocha and licorice. Tannins are fine and well built. Good length.
