From the old world recipe dating back to the 19th century, this legendary Strykover Slivovitz has been produced from plums grown in orchards famous for their sweet and aromatic fruit. This wine comes from central California’s Paso Robles region, where cool morning fog and intense midday sun result in richly textured and well-balanced wines. Aromas of red fruits are backed by powerful scents of black peppercorn. On the palate, the wine features flavors of raspberry, coffee, and vanilla. Bold tannins lead to a long, smooth finish.
The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux, from vines planted in 1946, was cropped at just six to ten hectoliters per hectare this year. It has a harmonious bouquet of Granny Smith apples, fresh pear and subtle scents of passion fruit that betray the sunny period at the end of the growing season. The palate is fresh and crisp with a fine bead of acidity, very succinct and poised with a delightful salinit on the finish. Excellent.
Tasting Notes: The Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a wine without peer. Simply put, this is as graceful and lifted, ethereal and magical, as Amarone gets. Profoundly deep and layered, yet retainaing a nimble sense of balance, Amarone from Quintarelli is a must-try wine experience.
This exquisite wine opens with an intense bouquet of floral aromatics, including hints of dried savory herbs and violets, providing a captivating sensory experience from the first sip. The wine's balanced acid and tannin structure create a velvety texture on the palate, while the jammy boysenberry, baking spice, and sour cherry notes add layers of complexity and richness to the flavor profile. The wine finishes with a sophisticated and lasting impression, leaving a remarkable taste that will linger on your palate.
As a somewhat more powerful alternative to Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch is also playing an increasingly important role at the Glatzer winery. The typical black cherry dominates the nose, plus a lot of spice with cloves and allspice, also blackberries and some orange zest, plus leafy nuances. A mellow texture on the palate, very engaging, again the spicy blackberry, plus roasted plums, soft tannin and delicate acidity, but intense - a true Blaufränkisch flatterer!
Very nice deep ruby color, dazzling. Nose of black cherry, salted caramel, gingerbread. Full and indulgent on the palate with notes of brioche. Very nice impression of sweetness.
