Very fresh nose, menthol and focused. The palate, gourmet, shows notable cassis aromas along with a load of small ripe black fruits. Supple tannins, silky texture. Lovely drinkability in its youth already.
Cabernet Sauvignon 60% - Merlot 40%.
Style: Dark ruby color. Red berry aromas mingling with subtle oaky notes. Round and generous, nice soft tannins on the finish.
Food pairing: Ideal with poultry, roast meats, game and cheese.
Overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Château Loumelat is ideally located. The vineyards are grown on the slopes and benefit from a privileged location, which makes it possible to create wines of rare finesse. The estate's soils are located 10 km northeast of the historic town of Blaye.
The 2009 Haut-Brion is deep garnet colored and slightly closed and shy to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal sensuous notions of warm blackberries, plum preserves, mulberries and blackcurrant cordial with touches of star anise, mocha and damp soil.
Tasted at the château, the 2005 Chateau d’Yquem delivers a similar performance as last year. Lucid in colour, the bouquet is detailed with very pure honey, vanilla and almond scents, still a little new oak to be fully assimilated but demonstrating superb focus.
