Taken from the very last 1984 casks from Talisker, set aside and guarded for decades for their promising potential. At the time few knew of Talisker’s tempestuous maritime character, but there was something special about these 1984 casks that made the distiller set them aside.
Tomintoul is owned by small independent distillers, Angus Dundee, who also own Glencadam distillery near Brechin in the east of Scotland between Dundee and Aberdeen.
Made with premium tequila, Spicy brings flavorful heat to the classic cocktail. The flavor is of earthy green pepper with slight vinegar back notes balanced by lemon zest, lime juice and sweet orange. There is light heat building over time. First fill XO rum casks are used to finish this whiskey and give it the sweetness of stone fruits. It’s a tribute to the role Irish emigrants played in the development of rum plantations in the Caribbean in the 17th century, but it speaks loud and clear to us today with a bold, fruit-forward style.
