Red currants and blackcurrants with some violets and crushed earth. Full-bodied with round, creamy tannins. Fine, velvety tannins that are open and grounded. Firm and tight finish. Drinkable now, but better in 2024.

A unique combination of Upper Galilee terroir, with select vineyards rich with history that can be traced back for centuries. Part of Domaines Martin, which also owns Château Gloria in Saint-Julien, this wine benefits from a classed-growth winery's attention to detail. The wine is rich, dense and structured. The cellar in which Eric Jeanneteau raises his single wine, a beautiful red Saint-Émilion grand cru, is an unadorned building on the family estate in Saint-Étienne de Lisse. Jeanneteau varies his vinification quite a bit depending on each vintage’s conditions, and the results can be fascinating, even startling, like hearing the same symphony interpreted by different conductors. His 2015 is supple, vibrant, and alive. The cellar may be plain, but there’s a true chef d’orchestre inside.
This offers aromas suggesting red berry, coconut, underbrush and menthol. On the focused, rather austere palate, tightly wound, close-grained tannins accompany cranberry, pomegranate and roasted coffee bean before a lean, assertive finish. Give the tannins a few more years to unfurl, then drink to capture the remaining fruit.
