This new expression is made from 100% Agave Papalote, also known as Agave cupreata, and specific to the Guerrero region. The plant grows wild in the mountain range of Guerrero, which is on the coast and has a tropical climate.
Lanolin and honey aromas. A soft round entry leads to a dry light-to medium-body with honey, grassy herbs, flax, caramel, salt, light spice. Finishes dryly with a honeyed oak barrel note. Silver medalist from the Beverage Testing Institute.
The artisanal mezcal distilled by Fernando Santibanez in Matatlan. Made from 100% Espadin, the agave is crushed and roasted in the traditional method using mesquite and ocote wood. Natural fermentation takes place in pine vats before double distillation in very old copper pots.
Banhez Mezcal is owned and operated by the families of the U.P.A.R.E.C Co-operative in Ejuita, Oaxaca. Our members, located throughout the hills and valleys of Ejuita, come together to grow, harvest, distill, and package every bottle.
