Home of some of the world's most extraordinary Chardonnays including the famous Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet is the geographical middleman of the white wine villages, bordered by Meursault to the north and by Chassagne-Montrachet to the south. The vineyard of Puligny-Montrachet "Sous les Puits" has a south-easterly exposure and is situated at the top of the hill of Blagny, just above "La Garenne", near a spring, hence the name of "Sous le Puits" ("Under the Well").
This buttery Chardonnay was fermented at low temperature and matured on fine lees. An elegant nose confirmed by a well-balanced palate makes this wine a perfect accompaniment for fish in sauce. It is also very pleasant on its own if served slightly chilled.
This Chassagne-Montrachet unveils a dark garnet hue. Its nose is characterized by blackcurrant and blackberry. The mouthfeel is ample, supple and has aromas of blackcurrant and wild strawberry. The finale is long and elegant.
Matured in concrete vats, this wine exhibits a brilliant red color with violet glints. An aroma of blackcurrant and raspberries, the mouth is rounded with a soft fruity finish without excess tannins.
Overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Château Loumelat is ideally located. The vineyards are grown on the slopes and benefit from a privileged location, which makes it possible to create wines of rare finesse. The estate's soils are located 10 km northeast of the historic town of Blaye.
The 2019 Angélique de Monbousquet is a dark, unctuous second wine from Gerard Perse's Monbousquet property. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice and cloves add to the wine's personality. A wine of serious concentration and power, the 2019 Angélique shows a bit more tannin today than it typically does.
Francis Boudin has been crafting traditional Chablis for generations and is amongst a set of staunch traditionalists who have refused to be seduced by modernity. Barrel-free Chablis has been the modus operandi at Chantemerle for decades where the philosophy is to craft their wines as naturally and as authentically as possible.
